Automation Specialist - Visual Inspection - 9-month contract - UK

Our client is currently seeking the skills of an Automation Specialist to join their team. Our client develops and delivers life changing medicines to millions of people globally and as part of their growth. With their Drug Substance (DS) manufacturing network growing rapidly, they are committed to growing their portfolio of commercial biologics products supplied worldwide – and this is your opportunity to be involved!


What you'll do: 
  • Define automation user requirements and ensure alignment with project standards.
  • Shape and oversee automation design philosophy and system architecture.
  • Convert requirements into engineering deliverables with design partners and vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance across design, commissioning, qualification and validation.
  • Review and assure design quality, safety compliance and regulatory alignment.
  • Support supplier selection, procurement decisions and technical documentation reviews.
  • Oversee testing activities including FAT, SAT and qualification protocols.
  • Approve key technical stage‑gates from design through to project completion.
  • Provide coaching and support to project teams and contribute to post‑project reviews.
What you'll need:
  • Strong background in automation engineering and control systems.
  • Experience with machine vision or automated inspection technologies.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and optimise workflows.
  • Knowledge of process control within manufacturing or execution‑based projects.
  • Understanding of testing concepts and validation principles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and part/component validation.
